Some Facts on FCP

MSK conditions are the leading cause for disability in the UK and the referrals were kept increasing, while the number of GP’s getting decreased and increasing demand and expense on managing MSK conditions. MSK Conditions are the second largest cause of sickness absence.

Physiotherapists are an expert professional group regarding MSK conditions as related to orthopedic consultants. Physiotherapists are safe to spot the red flags and act as GPs. FCPs are qualified to prescribe independently, order investigations, carry out injection therapy, and plan complex case management and cost less than GP (Think Physio).

FCP shows promise in producing benefits such as reduced costs and referrals and adding value for patients, it has backing from professional bodies and the NHS; and presents opportunities for the physiotherapy profession by widening the scope of physiotherapy practice (Halls et al., 2020).
